Baby Dance at Clewer Hall, Windsor
Baby Dance at Clewer Hall, Windsor
Reconnect with your body, dance to great music with other parents, and move with your baby in a fun and supportive class designed to awaken creativity.
Over the course of a term, we explore developmental movement stages that babies go through and use these as inspiration to try different dance styles and movement games. We dance both with and without carrying baby, and as your baby learns to roll, sit, and crawl, we adapt the dance to go with them. The atmosphere is relaxed and social, always focussed on the wellbeing of you and your baby.
For pre-walking babies, age guide: 2-10 months

What to Expect
In a 45-min session, we will spend ca 35 minutes moving. For a large part of the dance, we move without carrying baby and instead engage baby in other ways. When we do carry baby, we don’t use a sling (unless you prefer that), because we’ll be moving baby through the air, practicing different ways of carrying, lifting, bouncing and holding them in a dance hold. As your baby starts to roll, crawl or bum shuffle, we adapt the dance to suit to you both.
We’ll explore different dance styles and various kinds of music. Requests are welcomed.
Come as you are, no previous dance experience is needed. Just bring comfortable clothes and get ready to move!

Term Overview
Each week, we focus on muscular connections in the body, and link these to a developmental movement stage. We’ll move through the connections of core to limbs, head to tail along the spine, upper and lower body, body halves, and cross-lateral connections used when crawling and walking.
Each session includes a warm-up for you, interactions with baby, group dances, a calming cuddle dance, and a reflective check-out.

Facilitator: Julia Korning
I am a dance movement psychotherapist and I have two young daughters. I set up Me&Baby Dance together with my first baby, because I wanted to share my love for dance, music and movement. I needed a place for us to be creative and couldn’t find any other sessions that offered what Me&Baby Dance does – a chance to be a person in my own right, together with my baby, and dance with her and with other families together.
I found that parenting had made me stressed, worried about practicalities such as feed- and nap-times, isolated, and that it was hard to access my playful side. I therefore designed Me&Baby Dance to support connections – reconnecting to my own body after becoming a parent, connecting with my child, and connecting with other families, all through playful movement and dance. Over the years, it has brought me so much joy to dance with my children. It continues to melt my heart when I see parents connect with their babies, and I absolutely love my job.
As you might agree, it is usually easier to be playful and carefree when you are out of the home, in a space which you don’t have to tidy up, and with a structure to improvise around. This is what I provide in my sessions: a safe space for you to let go and just be present with your child. I’ll never force you or your child to behave in a certain way, or dance in a certain way. I provide a comforting structure, well-thought out and backed up my by experience as a dance therapist, for you to tune in to your body and dance with your child.
